The name Angola comes from the title Ngola of the kings from Ndongo, an important African kingdom, around the 15th Century and existed until 1671 in todays region of Luanda . The first time the name was used was by Portuguese sailors, who landed on the African coast and established a stone cross of the appropriation for the Portuguese king. Angola has been locked in a voilent civil war for 40 years this has now ceased and at the present moment is stable and peaceful. Naturally the infrastructure is still bad and the tourism is in its infancy, but it is now again safe to travel by Angola. If you enjoy adventure and can do without the comfort on your journey.
Angola is a truly marvelous experience. You will get the chance to go on untouched beaches far removed from any tourist destination and you will be welcomed by some of the friendliest people in Africa who after many years of unrest are starting to rebuild there lives.
